Blackwoods - Browns

The Blackwoods were here Saturday night and they were really on top of it! I noticed when they drove in that they had a new bus. Well, that led to a very funny story. I can't remember the bass singer's name, but you know him. Well he was driving and had pulled in at a truck stop to sleep at 2 or so in the morning before they picked up the piano player in Jacksonville. They had just gotten the bus and he assured us that it has all the bells and whistles. One of the amenities is that the interior doors open and shut with air pressure. The driver was the only one awake and wasn't sure what all to shut off and didn't want to run the battery down. So he just shut off everything to be on the safe side. Jimmie has the biggest room in the back of the bus because he's the oldest (he's had his Medicare card a few years) and needs room for all his pill bottles! We were supposed to be able to figure out why it was that he woke up at 4:30 and needed to go to another room. But he couldn't open his door because the air pressure was shut off. He has a window about 18"x18" in his room, so he went out the window. The outside door of the bus opens by a keypad, so he opened it, went in, visited the other room and headed back to his room. Well, when he was trying to get out of his room, he had inadvertantly locked the door! Now the only back into his room was through the window, so he went in to the truck stop and asked the lady to borrow their ladder so that he could climb back in his window. He hadn't thought about calling the cell phone of the driver to get him to turn on the air pressure to get him out in the first place. It was good for a very good laugh.

Sunday night the Brown's were here and they had two announcements. Just last week daughter/sister Jessica and husband Nick Trammel decided to join the group on the road. I believe they will start next month, but they were with them Sunday night too. The group sang a song that Nick and Jessica had written and also one that the oldest boy had written. Their next cd will be entirely composed of music written by the Browns! Each of them has written something for it. Their second big announcement was that Andrew is shaving now! His older brother, of course, claimed that he's been using the same razor for 6 months. Andrew is really a ham! He has thousands of girl friends all across the nation, most of them over 65. When his brother was telling that, Andrew was busy blowing kisses to the ladies in the audience.

The weather here has been great. I sure wish I had a place to walk when I'm home like I have here.

When Larry and Ann Ames were here, they ate at T.G.I. Friday's, and as they were leaving, they were given a card for $10 off their next visit, with no strings attached. Since they weren't going to be here, they gave it to me. I had dinner one day last week for 42 cents. As I was leaving, they gave me another card, so I guess I'll have to go back again if I can afford it!

It seems like I'm getting acquainted with more people this year than I did last year. Thursday I'm going to another town to a concert with some people I sort of met last year and have gotten to know this year. I invested in a collapsible stool to use when I'm waiting in lines. It paid for itself in one session of line-waiting! On a side note, one evening in line there were 3 Linda's and a Lynn in a row. I also have talked to a Lynda at Lake Morton a couple of times. By the way, the black swans still haven't hatched, but the parents are a lot more active than they were, so it's the concensus that they might begin to hatch in the next day or so. They have 5 eggs. Mother swan hatched a baby goose 2 weeks ago and it is still with them. Today I got directions as to where to go to seen alligators in the wild.

I think you're tired of reading, so I'll sign off. Have a nice day!
